The I Am Game
We play different roles every day depending on where we are and who we’re around. At work, at home, or around friends, we adjust how we act to fit the situation. But sometimes, our patience runs out, our emotions take over, and the part of us that reacts out of fear, frustration, or impulse comes out.
For example, you might follow the same routine at work for years, then suddenly something changes. You get annoyed, frustrated, and react in a way you normally wouldn’t. Keeping it real goes wrong.
I deal with this in another way through imposter syndrome. Sometimes, I feel like I don’t belong or that I’m not good enough. Those feelings bring back memories of embarrassment and shame, making it harder to think clearly and move forward.

How to Play
The I Am Game is a quick mental game designed to shift your focus away from negative thoughts and emotions by using a role, rhythm, and mantra. Instead of letting your thoughts control your next move, you give your mind something else to focus on.
Detect: Recognize when negative thoughts or emotions start taking over.
Breathe: trap the negativity by taking a deep breath and hold it for a few seconds before exhaling
Choose Your Character: Think of a role, quality, person or character you want to embody, such as a warrior, teacher, or leader.
Create Your Mantra: Start with “I am…” followed by the role or quality you chose. For example, “I am a warrior” or “I am focused.”
Find Your Rhythm: Turn your mantra into a rhythm or melody that feels natural to you.
Repeat: Hum your mantra 5–10 times when you need to refocus.
Summon Your Spirit
Think of it as summoning a spirit to help you face the monsters in your mind. The obstacles might be fear, frustration, self-doubt, or negative thoughts trying to influence your next move.
You can’t always control what you feel, but you can practice how you respond. The I Am Game gives you a moment to reset, reconnect with the person you want to be, and take back your focus and attention
